It’s spring again!

For many of us, it’s the time of the year when we’re ready to leave behind the 4+ months of being cooped up and just get outside already. Everyone is a little nicer, the colors are a little brighter, and the sun finally sticks around for a little longer. A smart brand, *hint*, would take advantage of the positive experiences people are having outside and join in.

If a little light bulb just went on in your head that said, “sure I get you, outdoor marketing… like billboards and benches and stuff,” then its time to reframe your thinking.

We’re talking some next-level outdoor marketing. We’re talking about actually connecting with customers outdoors. We’re talking about fostering enjoyable and novel experiences where deeper relationships are made and good feelings are shared.

Additionally, here some tips to get you started:

  1. Be a part of the community. When people gather outside they feel a sense of togetherness and belonging. When Morton Salt wanted to celebrate its 100 years as a Chicago staple, we did so by creating a 10-foot tall digital LED canister that featured local community landmarks, a look at Morton Salt through time, and award winning designs from local artists. DJ’s, catering, and a lounge area created a space where people could gather together and enjoy themselves while celebrating the brand. The night culminated in Morton Salt giving back to the community in the form of $100,000 in scholarships.
  2. Wow them with new ways to interact with their environment. Projection mapping or LED activations, for example, are excellent ways to change the way we see and interact with everyday objects. For our Breaking Wall activation, we turned an entire side of a building into an opportunity for brand interaction. People got the chance to virtually “destroy” a wall to reveal exciting images on the other side.
  3. Go to where the people are. We’ve helped brands like Crown Royale, Farmers Insurance ,and the San Francisco 49’ers engage and interact with customers at sporting events where friends and families gather for fun and entertainment. Each of the activations were deigned to create smiles and then share them with even more friends through social media.

Our next outdoor activation is slated for April 15 and will travel the U.S. until October! More to come on that so stay tuned!
