Creative Technologist AI

About NEXT/NOW

NEXT/NOW is an experiential agency focused on designing and building immersive, technology-driven environments and activations—from executive briefing centers (EBCs) to permanent experience centers, large-scale branded spaces, and one-of-a-kind experiential moments.

We create experiences where story, space, and technology come together—bringing ideas to life visually, physically, and emotionally.

The Role

We’re looking for a Creative Technologist who is deeply curious about what’s next—especially when it comes to generative AI and new ways of building.

This is a role for an AI-native builder—someone who doesn’t just adopt new tools, but actively explores, experiments, and invents with them.

You’ll work at the intersection of concept and execution—prototyping interactive experiences, shaping how people engage with environments, and rethinking what’s possible when AI becomes part of the experience itself.

You’re already using tools like Claude or similar AI coding platforms as part of your workflow. You’re building pipelines in ComfyUI. You’re experimenting, breaking things, and discovering unexpected outcomes.

You’re not limited to a single discipline—and you don’t want to be.
You’re a builder, an experimenter, and a translator between ideas and reality.

What You’ll Do
  • Prototype and develop interactive experiences for physical environments
  • Explore and apply generative AI in ways that are intentional, not gimmicky
  • Use AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot, etc.) as a core part of your workflow
  • Build and experiment with generative pipelines (ComfyUI, custom workflows, etc.)
  • Collaborate with creative teams to shape ideas into working systems and interactions
  • Contribute to experience design—thinking through how people engage, respond, and move through moments
  • Develop proof-of-concepts, demos, and production-ready components
  • Work across real-time systems, creative coding, and emerging platforms

What You Bring
  • A generalist mindset—you move fluidly between tools, disciplines, and ideas
  • Hands-on experience with real-time or interactive tools (TouchDesigner, Unity/Unreal, WebGL, etc.)
  • Active, hands-on exploration of generative AI (ComfyUI, LLMs, diffusion models, custom workflows, etc.)
  • Comfort using AI-assisted coding platforms (Claude, Copilot, etc.) to think and build faster
  • Strong problem-solving instincts—you like figuring things out when there’s no clear path
  • A discerning creative eye—you care about interaction, pacing, and how things feel
  • Ability to think beyond code—into user experience, behavior, and meaning

Nice to Have
  • Experience with physical computing (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, sensors, etc.)
  • Interest in robotics, kinetic systems, or responsive environments
  • Familiarity with lighting systems (LEDs, DMX, etc.)
  • Experience integrating hardware and software into cohesive experiences

How You Work
  • You’re relentlessly curious—especially about emerging tools and technologies
  • You actively experiment with AI—you don’t wait for permission or perfect use cases
  • You prototype quickly and learn by building
  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and open-ended exploration
  • You take pride in being a generalist with strong creative instincts

A Signal You Might Be a Fit
  • You already have side projects experimenting with AI, real-time systems, or interactive tech
  • You’ve built something weird just to see if it would work
  • You use AI tools daily—not occasionally
  • You get excited about new workflows, not overwhelmed by them

Why NEXT/NOW

You’ll work on projects that:

  • Live in the real world—not just on screens
  • Combine physical space, digital systems, and human interaction
  • Push into new territory with generative AI and emerging technology

This is a place to explore how AI and interactive environments come together—and to help define what that looks like.

To Apply

If you’re already building with AI, constantly experimenting, and want to shape the future of interactive environments—we’d love to see what you’re working on.
