The Bucknell Virtual Welcome Center experience provides prospective students, parents and guardians the opportunity to explore the university from afar. Pushing beyond the standard online campus tour, users are transported into a fully immersive 3D welcome center. The experience, built for 360 Web and Virtual Reality headsets, showcases the school’s offerings through a variety of interactive elements with the hopes of selling them on a potential future as a Bucknell student.

Redefining "In-Person"

The project’s goal was to visually express the excitement and inspiration of an in-person campus visit for those who may only be able to attend virtually. This goes beyond simply recreating the tour online, as most videos or even immersive tours do not match the same level of emotional connection.

Custom CMS

In addition to the design and development of the front end, the project included a fully custom content management system, allowing for easy updates and maintenance. This allows the virtual experience to remain relevant and offerings and imagery changes year over year.

The Result

The Bucknell University Virtual Experience was featured in The Wall Street Journal for its innovation and creative approach to admissions tools. The experience is one that is truly immersive, and sets Bucknell apart from other universities by inspiring that “Bucknell Feeling” even from home.
